So when Rihanna called her 'a bit of a hero,' I knew I wanted to make a point about black femininity that was bigger than the smaller pockets of outrage that are so easy to fall into on the Internet. Rihanna’s a hero to so many black girls around the world, and for no small reason, so it was important for me to share this story.”
