Hillary Clinton Numbers Surging Even After Full On Attack By Media

The corporate owned press has been flogging Hillary relentlessly for seven months in an attempt to create a horse race where none exists. Surely, that would erode anyone’s numbers. Yet something unexpected is happening. Four new national polls (ReutersUSA TodayPew and Investors’ Business Daily) show Hillary Clinton’s numbers surging.
Hillary Clinton holds a huge lead nationally that would be enviable by any standards. Clinton’s lead is typically 20+ points. Reuters shows her blowing out the competition by 39 points. A little different than the nonsensically negative “trust deficit” the media and Republicans keep trumpeting. So what has caused this shift?
Doing the obligatory mainstream interviews with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, ABC’s David Muir and NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd (all replete with their disrespectful snark, quoting an already debunked Quinnipiac poll and a singular obsession over her email practices), Clinton kept her cool, biding her time to answer substantive policy questions where she could shine. These interviews, along with well-placed guest appearances on EllenThe Tonight ShowSaturday Night Live and a Town Hall on NBC’The Today Show, are giving the American people a chance to experience Hillary, her smarts, compassion and policy prescriptions, rather than the corporate media’s hackneyed caricature.
The media is still doing its best to underplay her good news – withThe New York Times muting the importance of her endorsement by the National Education Association this week – our largest union.CNN also chose to focus on her tardiness to a campaign event rather than Hillary’s bold stance against the NRA in the wake of more atrocious gun violence.
Yet, despite their efforts to control the narrative and pick our President, we are seeing that grass roots support, and the viral nature of social media, is sharing truth with the people. The efforts of Reps. McCarthy, Gowdy and the chattering pundit class are finally getting pushback.
Given that our corporate owned media is all too willing to naively regurgitate Republican talking points, sans vetting, our only hope of a fair election is the constant vigilance and engagement of the American people. As well, a willingness to listen in full to the messages of all of the candidates and make up their own minds.
