BAYLOR PLAYER CONVICTED AFTER COVERUP

A former Baylor University football player was convicted of sexually assaulting a soccer player at the school in 2013. A report from Texas Monthly details how the university and prosecutor covered up the felony charges against Sam Ukwuachu after they were pressed last June, including a gag order on the case issued by the prosecutor. According to the report, the school didn’t even examine the rape kit. The victim alleged that Ukwuachu was not removed from classes they shared at the private Baptist college and she had to change her schedule to avoid encountering him. Before coming to Baylor, Ukwuachu was formally accused of being abusive to his girlfriend and was dismissed from Boise State for an undisclosed violation.
