Only 2% of Canadians Now Deny Climate Change

Canucks seem to have a sharper grasp of climate science than their southern neighbors. Here’s the Globe and Mail, the nation’s top, conservative-leaning paper:
Only 2 per cent of Canadians who responded to a new opinion poll believe climate change is not occurring …
“Our survey indicates that Canadians from coast to coast overwhelmingly believe climate change is real and is occurring, at least in part due to human activity,” said centre CEO Carmen Dybwad.
That is, as any North American climate watcher knows, a colossally low number. And large margins are right on when it comes to the science, too:
  • 32% said they believe climate change is happening because of human activity
  • 54% said they believe it’s because of human activity and partially due to natural climate variation
  • 9% believe climate change is occurring due to natural climate variation
  • 2% per cent said they don’t believe climate change is occurring at all
The latest U.S. poll on climate belief shows that, thanks largely to the recent spate of heat waves and drought, 70% of Americans believe that climate change is occurring, while 16% do not.
