DOJ Gave Mueller Docs on Foiled Sessions Resignation

The Justice Department reportedly turned over a trove of internal documents to special counsel Robert Mueller’s team, including correspondence related to the planned resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, ABC News reports. The move could reveal just how widely Mueller has cast his net in the course of the Russia investigation, which may have expanded to determine whether President Trump “sought to obstruct a federal inquiry into possible connections between his presidential campaign and Russian operatives,” sources told ABC News. Trump has repeatedly slammed Sessions in public, admitting that he would never have nominated the former Alabama senator to run the DOJ if he’d known Sessions would recuse himself from the Russia investigation.
