Welcoming Remarks by Vice President Joe Biden Copa America Centenario

Hi everybody, I’m Joe Biden, Vice President of the United States, and I want to welcome everyone to the United States as we proudly host the Copa America on its 100^thanniversary.

Supporting a thriving Americas has been a priority for me and for President Obama as we advance issues that connect us all—

·        educating our young people,

·        creating jobs in the hemisphere,

·        protecting human rights, and

·        promoting culture and the arts.

And throughout June, the United States is proud that as millions of fans paint their faces,

sing their anthems, and raise their flag for their countries—they’ll also come together in the spirit of good will.

That’s something we can all celebrate in a nation where everyone – everyone - is welcome.
