Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney is expected to call Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump a “phony" during his Thursday morning speech at the University of Utah. According to excerpts obtained by the Associate Press, the former Massachusetts governor will argue that Trump’s campaign promises “are as worthless as a degree from Trump University,” which has been under investigation for fraud. Romney is also set to say Trump “has neither the temperament nor the judgment to be president.” As he is wont to do, Trump fired back early Thursday with a series of tweets, asking, “Why did Mitt Romney BEG me for my endorsement four years ago?” and “I am the only one who can beat Hillary Clinton. I am not a Mitt Romney, who doesn’t know how to win. Hillary wants no part of Trump.” Just last week, Romney told Fox News that the real-estate mogul has been “aggressive in avoiding any discussion of taxes” and likely is hiding a “bombshell” in his tax returns. Romney has not yet endorsed a presidential candidate, but recently began to speak out against the frontrunner.
