Ben Carson suggested on Sunday that Americans should vote for Hillary Clinton if they wanted to elect the person with the most foreign policy experience.
During an interview on Fox News, host Chris Wallace pointed out that the GOP hopeful’s poll numbers had dropped after the attacks in Paris because people felt that he did not have the “right experience to be president.”
“How do you persuade the American people that at a time of terror, a time of domestic threat, you’re fit to be commander-in-chief?” Wallace wondered.
Carson argued that voters would pick him because he had “logical policies.”
“If people actually listened to what I have been saying, they will see that it makes perfectly good sense,” the candidate insisted. “I believe that the American people are smart enough to recognize that we’re in a very different time right now, and it’s not necessarily the one who shouts the loudest, it’s not necessarily the one who claims to have all this great experience.”
“The fact of the matter is, there’s nobody running who has a great deal of international experience except for Hillary Clinton,” he continued. “And you see where that has led.”
“So that’s not necessarily the thing that has to count, you have to look at a person’s lifetime experiences.”
According to Carson, Republicans who criticized him for mispronouncing Hamas were missing the “substance of what is being said.”
