Next week, the world’s attention will turn to what we believe is the most important social and public health crisis gripping our country as the United Nations General Assembly Special Session (UNGASS) convenes in New York City April 19-21.

The 30th special session of the UN General Assembly will focus exclusively on discussing solutions to the global drug problem.

In preparing for UNGASS, the president of the General Assembly said, “The world drug problem is the epitome of a 21st century global problem . . . global problems of this nature require long-term engagement within and across borders, action at different levels which address all aspects of the problem, and action by government.”

The Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime said, "International drug policy is not an end, it is the means to put people first."

We invite you to join us in watching the UNGASS plenaries and roundtables live here. A list of session times is here. You can also keep up with the meetings on Twitter using the hashtag #UNGASS2016. Learn more at UNGASS2016.
