Secretary of State John Kerry Bitch slaps Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) All Over The House Floor

Secretary of State John Kerry erupted at Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) after the congressman charged that the Obama administration cannot be trusted to carry out an attack on Syria due to mistakes made in Benghazi and controversies involving the IRS and NSA programs.

"I cannot discuss the possibility of the U.S. involvement in the Syrian civil war without talking about Benghazi," Duncan said, questioning Kerry at a Wednesday hearing.

"The administration has a serious credibility issue with the American people, due to the unanswered questions surrounding the terrorist attack in Benghazi almost a year ago. When you factor in the IRS targeting of conservative groups, the AP and James Rosen issues, Fast and Furious and NSA spying programs, the bottom line is that there is a need for accountability and trust-building from the administration," he said. "The American people deserve answers about Benghazi before we move forward in Syria's civil war."

That set off Kerry, who forcefully condemned Duncan for his claims.

"I'm not going to sit here and be told by you that I don't have a set of -- a sense of what the judgment is," he said. "We are talking about people being killed by gas and you want to go talk about Benghazi and Fast and Furious."

As Kerry spoke, Duncan held up a photo of what he said was a man named Victor who was killed in Benghazi.

"We don't deserve to drag this into yet another Benghazi discussion," Kerry said, "when the real issue here is whether or not the Congress is going to stand up for international norms with respect for dictators that have only been broken twice until Assad: Hitler and Saddam Hussein."

Bill Clinton calls for GOP to improve - not repeal — Obamacare

Former President Bill Clinton urged opponents of President Barack Obama’s health care law to stop fighting it and work to improve the law in a highly anticipated speech that tried to remind Americans why the three-year-old law was passed in the first place. 

Dubbed the “Secretary of Explaining Stuff” by the current White House, Clinton tried to do what the White House has struggled to do in the three-plus years since Obamacare became law: make a convincing argument that the massive overhaul is good for the entire country and that it shouldn’t go away, no matter how many times its opponents cast symbolic votes to eliminate it.

Obama: I Didn’t Set a Red Line, The World Did

President Barack Obama took questions from the press during his trip to Stockholm, Sweden ahead of the G20 economic summit in St. Petersburg Wednesday morning, during which he argued that his “red line” of chemical weapons use in Syria was indicative of a global norm of warfare that had been endorsed by Congress.

“I didn’t set a red line,” Obama said. “The world set a red line. The world set a red line when governments representing 98% of the world’s population said the use of chemical weapons are abhorrent, and passed a treaty forbidding their use even when countries are engaged in war. Congress set a red line when it ratified that treaty. Congress set a red line when it indicated, in a piece of legislation entitled the Syria Accountability Act, that some of the horrendous things happening on the ground there need to be answered for.”

“So, when I said in a press conference that my calculus about what’s happening in Syria would be altered by the use of chemical weapons, which the overwhelming consensus of humanity says is wrong, that wasn’t something I just kind of made up. I didn’t pluck it out of thin air. There’s a reason for it.”

“My credibility is not on the line,” Obama continued. “The international community’s credibility is on the line, and America’s and Congress’ credibility is on the line, because we give lip service to the notion that these international norms are important.”

Obama reminded everybody he had opposed the Iraq War, and did not want to repeat the mistake of acting based on “faulty intelligence.” But he also maintained that the U.N. inspectors had found evidence of the use of chemical weapons, and that even Iran and Syria itself did not dispute that they had been used.

He also expressed confidence that Congress would grant him authorization to engage militarily in Syria, though he insisted that he reserved the right to act on his own if the U.S.’s national security were threatened.. “I would not have taken this before Congress just as a symbolic gesture,” Obama said. “We will be stronger as a country in our response if the president and Congress does it together.”

Watch This Politician Completely CRUSH a Smug Pastor on the Issue of Gay Marriage!

Tony Abbot, leader of Australia’s admirably blunt “Liberal-National Opposition Coalition,” apparently takes his name as seriously as Chris Christie; in direct opposition to Australian Prime minister Kevin Rudd, his position is that gay marriage equality is “the fashion of the moment.” A pretty LONG moment as it turns out.

Rudd, apparently familiar with history, believes otherwise, though.  Once in opposition to gay marriage himself, and then on the fence, Rudd has fairly recently had a change of heart on the matter. This put him on the sour side of conservative Christian voters who felt that Rudd was merely blowing with the social wind of special interests. This disillusionment came to a head when (during a live Q&A session on ABC) Pastor Matt Prater’s confronted him on the matter.

Said Rudd: “I do not believe that people, when they are born, choose their sexuality.  They are gay, if they are born gay.  And therefore, the idea that this is an abnormal condition is just wrong.”

“If you call yourself a Christian,” Prater asked, “why don’t you believe the words of Jesus in the Bible?” Likely, he was referring to this passage from Matthew 19:4-5: “‘At the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”

Now, Rudd could have hit the Holy Man with his obvious and very Christian removal of scripture from context. What was the verse right before that again? Oh, yeah: “Some Pharisees came to Jesus to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?” So, was Jesus talking about homosexuality?  No, he wasn’t; he was talking about DIVORCE.  Which, at the moment, is legal in Australia.

If Rudd had wanted to, he could have taken that a step further by mentioning that Jesussaid precisely *….crickets…crickets…* about homosexuality.  Which, according to Westboro Baptist, is the worst thing you could possibly do. In fact, the only place homosexuality is even mentioned in the CHRISTIAN New Testament (you know…the book that defines the religion) is when Paul refers to a passage in Romans…the purpose of which was to remind Christians living in Rome that nobody has the right to judge, because nobody is righteous.

But, Rudd avoided the usual diversions, took the high road, and in pithily Australian fashion shot straight to the core of the issue:

“Well mate, if I was going to have that view, the Bible also says that slavery is a natural condition. Because St Paul said in the New Testament, ‘slaves be obedient to your masters.’ And therefore we should have all fought for the Confederacy in the US Civil War.”

Ouch.

He continued,

“The fundamental principle of the New Testament was universal love. If we get obsessed with a particular definition of that through a form of sexuality, then I think we are missing the centrality of what the Gospel… is all about.”

Failing to give any kind of theological rebuttal, the Pastor himself got right to the core of the issue he had in mind, reminding Rudd that christian voters were upset with Rudd for “chopping and changing [his] beliefs just to get a popular vote”.

But Rudd wouldn’t be swayed by politics, stating that he came by his decision after many years of reflection based on “informed conscience and Christian conscience.”

Prater didn’t have much to say to that.

Seems that Australia’s “Christian” leaders are more comfortable discussing politics than anything Jesus Christ actually said.  Ugh.  Heathens.  How dare they.

Religious Nutjob Says Wendy Davis ‘Ruled by A Demon Of Murder’ (Video)

From the “Oh puh-lease” files comes a Gordon Klingenschmitt fire and brimstone religious rant about the women’s rights rockstar, Sen. Wendy Davis [TX].

On an online episode of ”Pray In Jesus’ Name ” Klingenschmitt said that Davis, an attorney, is not qualified to serve as Governor of Texas because she is “ruled by a demon of murder” and that she should, in fact, “be prosecuted herself, probably for having facilitated so many abortions in her own state.” 

I’ve never heard of him either. But now I REALLY want to list ‘Demon of Murder’ on my resume.

I am betting he won’t reply, but I have a question for Klingenschmitt:

Did you know Rick Perry sister makes money off of abortions? Did you know that with the recent closing of Texas clinics, Milla Perry Jones not only has the opportunity to make a fortune from abortions but she will also be able to screw the poor by charging them more than clinics would?

Is Milla Perry Jones going to hell? Should she be prosecuted? Is she a Demon of Murder too?? Or do you religious fanatics only like to single out liberal Democrats?

Koch Brothers, Pimp David Horowitz is Batshit Crazy

The Koch Brothers sponsored an event and drew the usual wingnuts Rubio, Perry, Jindal, Cruz and this guy:

This weekend’s conference was funded by Americans for Prosperity and attracted a number of influential conservative activists. Along with Horowitz, several potential Republican contenders in the 2016 presidential election — including Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX), Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA), and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) — also spoke at the event. As the Washington Post reports, the GOP lawmakers considering a presidential run likely hoped to take the opportunity to make their pitches to the Tea Party base."

Rep. Brian Higgins, a Democrat from western New York, raised the specters of Iraq and Afghanistan in opposing Syrian intervention.   

Democrat Rick Nolan of Minnesota is seldom on the same side of a debate as onetime presidential hopeful Rep. Michele Bachmann, but both oppose intervention."After 6,668 American troop deaths and tens of thousands of American wounded, after spending $2 trillion in Iraq and Afghanistan representing $40,000 in debt for every American family, now is the time to nation-build in America and invest in the growth of the American economy,” he said in a statement Tuesday. “It is not the time for Americans to be subjected to the potential of yet another unwinnable overseas war.”

"We are war-weary,” Nolan said in a Minnesota Public Radio interview. “These wars of choice and this so-called nation-building abroad is bankrupting this country. It’s causing nothing but trouble for us throughout the world and it’s time that this Congress step up.”

A Message for the misguided Christian Right in the US

Really I should say unchristian like Christian Right

Sometimes it is the simplest of things that brightens ones day and makes a difference, no matter how small.

A few weeks ago Gosford Anglican Church in Australia made headlines when they put up a sign that said, “Dear Christians, some people are gay, get over it, love God.” Now a church in St. John’s, Ontario has put up a sign that says simply, “Jesus had two dads and he turned out just fine!” It seems that Christians in Australia and Canada have figured out that people are people no matter what their sexual orientation, dare we hope that it will spread to the TEAvangelicals in our country? Nah, not much chance of that with the likes of Pat Robertson and Bryan Fischer around to tell their followers that God hates gays and wants us to shun them.
