Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov attempted to defend his country’s airstrikes in Syria following concerns that they were targeting U.S.-backed rebels. He promised that Russia wasn’t targeting anyone other than the Islamic State group, al Nusra and terrorist groups recognized by the United Nations. The U.S. and six other nations have called for an end to the airstrikes, but Russia's Vladimir Putin said they'll continue "for three or four months." Putin is meeting with leaders from France, Germany and the U.S. in Paris today. |
