Baltimore reached a $6.4 million settlement with Freddie Gray’s family. The massive settlement is more than the total payouts of the previous 120 brutality and misconduct suits brought against the police department since 2011. The deal, which could impact the decision to hold trials for the implicated officers in Baltimore or elsewhere, is expected to be approved by the city’s Board of Estimates today.

Controversial Kentucky clerk Kim Davis was released from jail. Davis is now free under the condition that she can’t interfere with efforts by her deputy clerks to issue marriage licenses. Davis’ attorney said his client “cannot and will not violate her conscience.”
