THE LAST WORD
As the cost of America’s top universities climbs higher than the ivy on their walls, the average student faces more than $35,000 in debt. The price tags on the most competitive U.S. schools range from $59,000 to $69,000, which covers tuition, room and board, books and other fees. That number actually makes America’s higher education system a huge outlier internationally. As Mic’s Jon Levine notes, the University of Oxford’s tuition for international students comes in just above $23,000, while the universities of Helsinki and Munich don’t charge any tuition at all. If you’re looking to go back to school or are about to embark on your undergrad adventure, it might be a good time to consider an exotic education abroad.
