Was A Top Military Aide Of Defense Secretary Ash Carter A Source To Ben Carson

Lt. Gen. Ron Lewis

Scandal in the Pentagon: Defense Secretary Ash Carter fired his top military aide, Lt. Gen. Ron Lewis, over alleged “misconduct.”The DOD Inspector General is now investigating the claims. Official sources declined to say what exactly the Army general is accused of doing, but someone in the know tells The Post that the decision involved “an alleged improper relationship.” Sources are reporting that Lewis may be the unnamed  source for the intel that Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson has quoted over and over again as his secret intel source
Missy Ryan and Craig Whitlock report: “As his top military aide, Lewis was a right-hand advisor to Carter, providing him analysis on military issues, joining him at high-level meetings, and traveling with him on overseas missions. … It is extremely rare for a senior general to get fired at the Pentagon, much less the senior military assistant to the Secretary of Defense. It is also unusual that such a decision would be made before the allegations are substantiated.”
