DCCC Chairman Steve Israel’s Statement on President Obama’s Jobs Address to Congress

Chairman Israel: "House Republicans have voted for the most anti-jobs agenda we’ve seen in 75 years"

DCCC Chairman Steve Israel released the following statement after President Obama delivered a speech before a Joint Session of Congress about his American Jobs Act:

“Tonight, President Obama laid out a clear-eyed plan to create jobs, grow our economy and strengthen our middle class. House Republicans now have the chance to embrace this fiscally responsible plan that asks billionaires and Big Oil companies to pay their fair share so we can invest in small businesses, job creation and put people back to work.

“Unfortunately, for 247 days, House Republicans have not put forward a single plan to create good jobs for the American middle class and tonight was no exception.

“Instead, House Republicans have voted for the most anti-jobs agenda we’ve seen in 75 years – voting to destroy nearly 2.5 million American jobs. Voters across the country made their outrage crystal clear this August recess but House Republicans refuse to listen.”
